About the blog
Growing up on a healthy diet of entertainment, family bonding in my house meant sitting around the TV together while eating gumbo. From the second yellow Power Ranger, to Tia and Tamera on Sister, Sister to the ladies of Living Single, strong leading ladies have always commanded my attention. And I've proudly followed the lives and careers of these strong female leads whose lessons and light have helped me navigate through my own life journey.
This blog serves as a platform to celebrate leading ladies, their work, and to showcase all the little ways entertainment/pop-culture is infused into my everyday life. Come for my movie and book reviews, stay for my witty listicles, celebrity-inspired "I tried it" moments and career advice from industry insiders.*
*Plus anything else I think of that's cool, because it's my blog and I can write what I want to.
Hailing from an itty bitty town in Louisiana known for meat pies and Steel Magnolias (yes, the movie!), I'm Alexis, a quirky, iced-coffee-dependent magazine editor and novice screenwriter based in New York.
I developed a passion for storytelling at an early age while reporting on the inner workings of elementary school, and an interest in strong female leads from watching the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers on repeat. An outgoing introvert, when I'm not writing you can find me in a movie theater, reading a contemporary romance novel, or dancing in the mirror to Whitney Houston's greatest hits. Here are some more fun facts about me!
